The Local Area Network Data and Wi‑Fi service enables the various offices and buildings belonging to Government of Navarra departments, autonomous bodies, public companies included in CPEN, and other public foundations and organizations to have the infrastructure and equipment needed to connect user devices—either through data cabling or wirelessly—located in those sites, providing them with access to the Government of Navarra’s Corporate Network. These user devices may include telephone terminals, desktop or laptop computers, and even environmental control devices within the buildings.
Each service modality differs according to the number of devices that can be connected in an office and the technology used to perform the connection, whether wired or wireless. Connecting a device to the local network enables communication with any of the services integrated into the corporate network and allows the exchange of information in a secure environment, as private service‑based networks are established for this purpose.
The service provides 24/7 support, especially for sites that contain devices requiring connectivity with the CPDs and their hosted services for proper operation, such as healthcare centers—including hospitals—regional police stations, or fire stations.
All users from Government of Navarra departments, Public Companies integrated into CPEN, and other organizations or foundations that, due to their public nature, are part of the Government of Navarra’s corporate network.
Local Area Network data and Wi‑Fi services are based on Ethernet access technology, distinguishing between wired and wireless access and according to the standard in force at any given time or the connection required depending on the capacity needed for each device. Device connections are made to local area network equipment—switches or access points—that use structured cabling links, mainly copper twisted‑pair (UTP) and, in some cases, fiber optic. The network enables VLAN private virtual networks defined according to services, with corresponding network service identifiers for wireless access.
Different systems are distinguished depending on the technology:
- Wired network: Standard used on access ports: 1000 Base‑T and 1000 Base‑X (in certain cases)
- Wireless network: Standard used for access: 802.11ax (WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E).
- Use of Power over Ethernet (PoE). Standards in use: 803.2af, 803.2at and 802.3bt.
- Structured cabling:
- UTP copper cabling. Cabling standard in use: Category 5E and 6
- Multimode fiber cabling. Standard in use: OM3 and OM4
- Single‑mode fiber cabling. Standard in use: G653
- Network Access Control (NAC). Standard in use: 802.1X with extensions.
- Dynamic network assignment services (DHCP)
