Nearly 200 tourism professionals to receive digitalisation training under the ‘Impulso Digital’ programme
Nearly 200 tourism professionals will receive training in digitalisation thanks to the ‘Impulso Digital’ programme, an initiative of the Directorate General of Tourism of the Government of Navarra that will provide training in digitalisation tools and strategies. This programme is funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU funds, under the Government of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The Pío Baroja Hall at the INAP building hosted the start of the specialised training on 14 January. The Councillor for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Rebeca Esnaola, welcomed participants, stressing that “today, tourism companies face fast-paced and technology-driven market that demands continuous online interaction with customers, which requires businesses to be properly prepared and trained. That is why, from the Directorate General of Tourism and within the framework of European funds—the Next Generation funds—we considered that developing specialised training programmes in this field was essential.”
The event also featured Alberto Ecay, Director of the Service for Sustainable Territorial Development of Tourism, who highlighted “the ambitious and comprehensive nature of the training programme and its highly practical approach to driving the effective implementation of digitalisation in Navarra’s tourism companies.”
He was joined in the presentation by Fran Hidalgo, Head of the Digitalisation Services area at NASERTIC, the public company that will manage the training. Once the presentation concluded, a networking session was held for all participants in the session, thus enabling an initial round of contacts.
150 Hours of Training
This is one of the most comprehensive digitalisation training offerings to date, with 150 hours to be delivered over the first half of this year.
Following the close of the registration period—and given the high level of interest —the number of places has been increased from the initial 171 to a total of 200. A waiting list is also being maintained to cover any withdrawals during course.
10 Course Modules
The ‘Impulso Digital’ programme combines theoretical training with practical application for companies and sector professionals through group and individual mentoring, as well as online tools with in‑person sessions. During the first three months of the year, participants in this programme will be trained in the following ten specialised fields:
- UD1. Introduction: Digitalisation of SMEs in the tourism sector
- UD2. Artificial Intelligence: a basic, cross‑cutting tool in digitalisation
- UD3. Digital Marketing Strategies for Tourism Companies
- UD4. Customer Experience Management: the digital customer
- UD5. E‑commerce and Booking Platforms
- UD6. Digital Tools for Multilingual Communication
- UD7. Data Analysis and Decision‑Making
- UD8. Cybersecurity in Tourism
- UD9. Process Automation and Operational Improvement
- UD10. Technological Innovation in Tourism
Afterwards, groups will be formed by interest areas to carry out group mentoring, and individual mentoring will also be launched, with the aim of enabling each participant to develop a personalised digitalisation plan for their project or business.
In short, this is an ambitious programme that has been very well received by the sector and is intended to help drive decisive progress in the digitalisation of Navarra’s tourism industry.
