Navarre strengthens its international profile with a strategic agenda in Shenzhen, one of the world’s main technology hubs

An institutional delegation from the Government of Navarre, together with the public company NASERTIC and representatives from the biosanitary sector, will carry out a work agenda in Shenzhen (China) from 22 to 24 June. The visit is organized במסגרת the Navarre International Plan (PIN), with the aim of strengthening the global presence of Navarre’s innovation ecosystem, exploring new opportunities for technological collaboration, and fostering ties with one of the world’s leading hubs for scientific and industrial development.

The agenda will provide an opportunity to showcase Navarre’s capabilities in sectors considered strategic, promote the creation of new partnerships, and connect the region’s technological and knowledge-based ecosystem with a globally renowned environment in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced robotics, biotechnology, technological manufacturing, and the digital economy.

Specifically, the delegation will include First Vice-President and Regional Minister for Presidency and Equality, Javier Remírez, in his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of NASERTIC. He will be accompanied by the Director General for Science, Technology and Innovation, Agurtzane Martínez; NASERTIC’s Managing Director, Luis Campos; IRIS Pole Coordinator, Ion Arrizabalaga; ICT specialist Juan Narro; and NASERTIC’s Director of Personalized Medicine and Laboratories, Gonzalo Ordóñez. Representatives from the biosanitary sector linked to the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) will also be part of the delegation, including its Scientific Director, Antonio Pineda, and Therapeutic Innovation specialist, Inés Ibáñez.

The agenda will take place in Shenzhen and in the Longhua district, considered one of the most dynamic technological and industrial engines in China and an international benchmark in areas such as the digital economy, AI, advanced robotics, technological manufacturing, and biomedicine.

Shenzhen, with nearly 18 million inhabitants and an investment in R&D exceeding 4% of its GDP, has established itself as one of the world's leading innovation centers, bringing together thousands of technology companies and some of the most advanced digital initiatives in sectors such as renewable energy and medical devices.

This trip is part of the strategy to strengthen institutional and economic relations between Navarre and China, promoted through the Navarre International Plan (PIN), the Government of Navarre’s roadmap to support the region’s business, technological, and knowledge ecosystem through promotion, cooperation, and positioning in strategic markets.

In this context, on 24 June the agenda will connect with the business mission led by the Department of Industry and Business Ecological and Digital Transition, with the participation of Regional Minister Mikel Irujo and a delegation of companies and entities from Navarre, at the “Navarra–Longhua Forum on Innovation, Industry and Strategic Relations in the Greater Bay Area.”

In addition to several thematic panels, the event will include a networking space as well as bilateral (B2B) meetings between Navarrese and Chinese companies.

NASERTIC and IRIS Pole Technology Agenda

Ahead of the official start of the business mission, representatives from NASERTIC and the IRIS Pole will carry out a specific agenda on 22 and 23 June aimed at identifying opportunities for cooperation in research, innovation, and technology transfer within Shenzhen’s technological ecosystem.

Among the planned meetings are visits to leading infrastructures and specialized entities in strategic areas such as AI, advanced robotics, synthetic biology, the digital economy, the attraction of tech talent, as well as advanced manufacturing and 3D printing.

These meetings will provide first-hand insight into some of Asia’s most advanced innovation ecosystems and explore potential pathways for collaboration in areas aligned with NASERTIC’s strategic priorities. NASERTIC is a public company belonging to the Navarre Public Business Corporation (CPEN), which manages the IRIS Pole and the advanced biotechnology and synthetic biology laboratories located within it.
