IRIS Hub hosts open day in Irurtzun to showcase advanced technology for businesses

The IRIS Navarra Digital Innovation Hub hosted an innovative technology workshop this morning in Irurtzun. Under the name “Dinabide Tech Show,” this open-day event served to present the additive manufacturing equipment hosted by the hub, acquired through the IRIS Hub and funded by the Government of Navarra and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service.

The event, held at the Dinabide technology coworking space, was attended by the Minister of University, Innovation and Digital Transformation and President of IRIS Navarra, Juan Luis García, and the Minister of Industry, Ecological Transition and Business Digitalisation and Vice President of IRIS Navarra, Mikel Irujo.

Councillor García welcomed attendees and highlighted that “this space is not just a technological showcase, it is an invitation to experiment, to innovate through practice, and to transform business models from the local level.” He also stressed that digital transformation must be an inclusive process: “We want innovation to reach all regions, to become a real tool for economic and social development in every part of Navarra.”

For his part, Councillor Irujo emphasised in the closing remarks the need “to bring and promote tools that allow companies to be more competitive and innovative in the in the context of the green and digital transition.”

During the workshop, Mikel Irijalba, additive manufacturing and 3D design specialist at Dinabide, explained to attendees the applications and technological equipment services available in this space related to additive manufacturing. He also described the technical characteristics of industrial 3D printing machinery and its practical applications. The equipment was put into operation and real examples of components produced using the equipment were shown.

This showroom was an opportunity to get a close look at the technology and services available to Navarra’s business ecosystem at Dinabide. Thanks to the support of the Government of Navarra and the IRIS Navarra Digital Innovation Hub, these technologies are available with the goal of fostering innovation, competitiveness and access to advanced production solutions.

Dinabide is a collaborative space promoted by the Sakana Development Agency / Sakanako Garapen Agentzia and the Irurtzun City Council, and funded by the Government of Navarra. Its aim is to generate a community of knowledge, entrepreneurship and experience oriented towards digital transformation.

Through IRIS Navarra, companies, professionals, public entities and citizens are offered a comprehensive additive manufacturing service designed to facilitate the design, development and production of parts and products using state-of-the-art 3D technologies. This service enables the creation of functional prototypes, final pieces or customised models with high precision, reducing development times and costs. It also offers specialised technical support, tailored training and access to different printing processes and advanced materials.

IRIS Lab

IRIS Lab is the experimentation laboratory of the IRIS Navarra Digital Innovation Hub, a range of state-of-the-art digital equipment that the hub makes available to companies, institutions and citizens so they can learn about it, experiment with it and discover how it can be useful in their activities or businesses before making major investments.

In addition to the equipment at Dinabide, IRIS Lab also has nodes in other key locations. The public company INTIA deploys virtual fencing collars and positioning and telemetry devices to efficiently manage rural areas; while the public company NASERTIC offers computing infrastructure for R&D&I actors and businesses across the region, as well as deploying a 5G mobile network at the Zubiri telecommunications center, together with a mobile device to enable 5G testing throughout Navarra.

Meanwhile, the University of Navarra has incorporated a pioneering mass spectrometer, and at the University Hospital of Navarra, digital twin technology is being integrated as part of its decarbonisation plan. In addition, Fundación Dédalo in Tudela has several robots used for various training activities in the Ribera area.
