New Editions of the Data Science and AI Labs Get Underway

The Data Science Laboratory and NavIA Lab S4 (AI Laboratory) programmes, promoted by the Department of Industry and Ecological and Business Digital Transition, have launched their sixth and second editions, respectively. These initiatives of the Directorate General for Energy, Business R&D&I and Entrepreneurship are managed by the public company NASERTIC and aim to help Navarrese companies— primarily industrial companies—in their digital transformation processes through the practical incorporation of advanced technologies.

The Data Science Laboratory, whose first training session was held on 24 June, aims to promote the adoption of a data-driven culture within companies. Throughout the programme, participants learn to extract value from their data and identify opportunities in which it can be used and analysed to improve their operations.

The programme includes a theoretical module consisting of basic theoretical training; a methodology module designed to build the skills needed for project development; and a final application module in which companies receive personalised support from data science experts who help them define and execute their own project. This allows companies can directly and practically apply what they have learned, aligning their projects with their business objectives.

More than 80 Navarrese companies have benefited

Nearly 80 companies have already taken part in the Data Science Laboratory in previous editions. The ten companies participating in this new edition are: Auriga Iberia, Fuvex, KYB Europe GmbH, Limagrain, Solidus, Tafame S.A., Talleres Lantegui, TASUBINSA, Viscofan and Volkswagen Navarra.

Meanwhile, the ten companies enrolled in the second edition of NavIA S4Lab also received their first training session on 20 June. The participants are: AS Catalizadores, Ekolo, Florette Ibérica, Heliosolar, Ingredalia, JP Industrial, Lizarte, Replasa, Smurfit Westrock Sangüesa and Volkswagen Navarra. In the previous edition, eight companies completed the programme.

This training programme lasts between 45 and 50 hours, split into online sessions, practical training, mentoring and the implementation of AI solutions in specific business processes. The methodology applied is Learning by Doing, based on hands-on learning within a real and concrete context. As in the Data Science Laboratory, participating companies receive personalised mentoring, as well as access to cutting-edge AI tools, practical training and guidance, ensuring that their teams are capable of implementing solutions effectively within their companies.

About NavIA Lab S4

NavIA Lab S4 is aims to promote the adoption of AI solutions applied to specific business processes and content generation, including: advanced generative AI applications for chatbots; AI-based image creation for creative solutions using different tools; advanced techniques such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for interpreting complex data; customised AI models developed with platforms that enable the design and programming of AI for specific business tasks; and RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.

These initiatives, part of the Government of Navarra’s S4 Smart Specialisation Strategy, form part of the industrial and technological transition roadmap aimed at harnessing the opportunities arising from the twin green and digital transitions.
